Traditional Amazonian Festivity
Every year, local communities and towns celebrate a Catholic saint. Processions through the busy streets draw thousands of people. A large wooden mast is carried around and erected in the city center. Candles are lit and set afloat along the rivers, creating a mesmerizing show of light and shadow.
